APPROACHING FROM THE LONDON DIRECTION ALONG THE M40
Exit the M40 at Junction 8 onto the A40 signposted to Oxford
Take first exit left. Signposted to Wheatley (Approx 1 mile just before a bridge)
The slip road curves sharply.
Take first turning left at the top of the curve (before bridge) Signposted to Wheatley
Proceed past ASDA petrol station on the left
Take first turning right (road bears away at an angle) Signposted to Holton.
Continue for approx 400 metres
Take first turning right Signposted to Holton
Continue approx 500 metres (Under a bridge and the entrance to Brookes University)
Take first turning left signposted to Holton (narrow road)
Continue past the church for about 200 metres and the Hall is on the right
APPROACHING FROM THE NORTH GOING TOWARDS LONDON ON THE M40
Please note: It is best to come to Junction 8A on the M40 and not try to short cut by exiting at Junction 9 as SatNavs may suggest.
Exit the M40 at Junction 8A to the roundabout at the top of the ramp
Take the third exit. Go over the bridge to the next roundabout by the service station
Go straight ahead beyond the roundabout and service station
Continue for approximately 600 metres to a bridge. Approach carefully.
Cross the bridge. Take the first turning right IMMEDIATELY** over the bridge signposted to Wheatley.
Follow directions above from: ‘Proceed past ASDA petrol station on the left’
** If you miss this turning you have to proceed onto the A40 towards Oxford. Continue for approximately two miles to the first traffic lights. Do a U turn and follow the directions as if you were coming from the London Road Roundabout.
APPROACHING FROM OXFORD OR THE SOUTH AND WEST OF THE CITY
Wherever you start your journey, your aim should be to reach the major ‘London Road’ (sometimes called ‘Headington’) roundabout to the East of the City. This sits at the point where the Eastern Bypass (A 4142) and the Northern Bypass (A40) meet though in practice it is one continuous road. The roundabout also links with the A40 to London which is the road you will want.
At all costs avoid being enticed into the centre of Oxford!
APPROACHING FROM THE LONDON ROAD ROUNDABOUT
From the roundabout take the A40 exit signposted to London
Proceed for approximately two miles. Exit left at the sign to Holton and Wheatley
After fifty metres you reach a T junction
Turn left following the sign to Holton
Stay on this road (it wanders through village and country) for approximately one mile
If in any doubt keep bearing right along the same road
Holton Village Hall is on the left before you reach the church
